The body gives up pretending
when it can't push anymore.

Can't fake wellness.
Can't outrun the ache.

I started walking again,
not for steps or strength.
I needed to remember
I was still in there.

Nature didn't ask me to perform.
It didn't measure pace.

I was winded, slow.
Moss and sky didn't care.
Ground held anyway.

In the wild, truly being there,
something I didn't know I'd lost.
Relating to a body
not built on resentment.

Healing, not in metrics or miles,
in muddy boots and breath
I didn't have to earn.
