There was a moment  
that didn’t feel like revelation.

An exhale I didn’t notice  
until it was halfway out.

A trail hiked a dozen times before.  
Same crunch of gravel,  
same bend, same fallen pine.

Something different.  
A shift I wasn’t braced for.

No scanning.  
No thoughts racing.

The past didn’t hold the reins that day.

Not in defense.  
Just movement.  
Just here.

Not every step is like that.

But the fact that one was?

A shift  
I’ll keep walking for.
