Silence is a Form of Safety
Sometimes, I go quiet.
Not because I'm shutting down
but because I'm returning to safety.
Silence is how I regulate.
How I stop performing.
How I feel the earth under me again.
In a world that rewards noise
and constant motion,
choosing silence feels radical.
It's not avoidance.
It's presence.
The woods taught me this.
The hush between wind and leaf.
The pause between crow calls.
The still water that reflects without rushing.
Silence is where my nervous system exhales.
It's not the absence of something.
It's the presence of calm.
