Window Trail: Letting the Sky In When You Can't Go Out
I didn't have it in me to go outside. The body said no.
There are days like this. When the trail isn't possible.
When even the thought of lacing boots feels like lifting stone.
Flares don't negotiate, they just land, and often suddenly.
Then the world shrinks to the size of your room.
But nature doesn't only live outside.
It's in the light that shifts across the wall.
The sound of wind through leaves you can't see but can hear.
The way the sky changes color without asking permission.
The cold air that pours through an open window,
carrying the smell of rain or pine or earth.
This is adaptive trailcraft.
Not what you planned.
What's possible now.
So I opened the window and let the sky pour in.
Watched the light crawl across the floor.
Listened, breathed, and let that count – it does.
The trail doesn't require your feet.
It only requires your attention.
And some days, the window is enough.
