Self-Care

Another word ruined by Instagram, but I need it back.

Real self-care isn't about flawless routines or curated wellness practices. It's about listening to your body and responding in a way that honors both your limits and your needs. Self-care is not a performance. It's an act of self-respect.

For me, it isn't about checking boxes. It's about choosing to rest when I need it, acknowledging that I can't always do what I once did, and still honoring my worth. Some days that looks like a gentle hike. Other days it looks like not hiking at all and trying not to hate myself for it.

It's about choosing what serves me, even if it means taking breaks during a hike or letting go of the idea of "perfect" self-care. The hardest part isn't the physical limitation—it's the voice that says resting means failing. But that voice is getting quieter. Most days.
